Enhancing the scanned result of your photograph, image, 35mm slide, or 35mm negative is where we correct detectable problems with the original.  It may be a scratch across the slide or negative, a series of spots that have appeared (usually from dust), or may be that you want to change the color for a faded photograph.

We suggest that you call, write or Email us if you are considering extensive photo enhancements.  That way we both understand exactly what is to be done.

Key Considerations

  • What do you want done to the photo?
  • Do you want a color photo changed to black and white?
  • Do you want a color or black and white photo changed to Sepia which provides a dated or old-fashioned look?
  • Do you want the photo cropped to concentrate on a specific area?
  • Do you want to sharpen or blur the images?
  • Do you want the unwanted red-eye effect reduced?

Capabilities

We have several Photo Enhancement software programs that provide us with the ability to manipulate the digital images we use for our products.  Each one has varied capabilities but they normally fall into the following categories.

Cropping
This is where a portion of the photograph or image is retained and everything outside the selected area is ignored.  This could also be putting a studio like "fuzziness" around the image.
Color Balance
This is the ability to adjust the hue, saturation, lightness and contrast of the image.  An example is adjusting the image to bring out a face that is in a shadow of a hat.
Blur or Sharpen
This is where the image has either a reduced amount of detail or an increased amount of detail. There is only a certain amount of sharpening that can be performed while still making the photo acceptable for viewing.
Despeckle
This is the removal of dust spots or a scratch by having the computer adjust the image so that the area is the same as what surrounds it.
Sepia or Black-and-White

This is the ability to remove the color and replace it with Sepia (shades of tan) or a Black-and-White image.
