Half Moon Island is small and shaped like a crescent moon if you look down on it. The day we visited it was raining, the wind was blowing and the conditions were icy. There was no "dry" landing so the zodiacs had to be beached and then you had to go over the sides to get on shore. This looked like a cold waiting to be caught, so the photos below are from the Discovery looking at the shore. The first of the groups went ashore at 6:30am. There were mixed reactions from those that did go ashore. Some said that the weather took the fun out of the trip, others said it was worth it to see the Chinstrap Penguins, and almost everyone said that it was a bust as far as photography was concerned.
