Half Moon Island ANTARCTIC Drake (S)

Drake Passage going north seemed to be a bit smoother than going south, but it may have been that we had gotten our "sea legs".  There were some large ice bergs early on, and a lot of us stayed up very late (11:00pm) to see Cape Horn, the southernmost portion of South America.

As you can see from these photos it was very dark, and even with all of the camera flashes going off, the photos are likely to just show a lot of black.

ANDP0102 (Cape Horn is the tallest bump on the horizon)   ANDP0103 (Extreme telephoto in the dark and it is still just a bump)

ANDP0104 (The sun was behind clouds, and it got darker)   ANDP0106 (and darker)

ANDP0107 (and darker)   ANDP0108 (but the red coats continued to wait to see how  close they would come to Cape Horn)
